Many of you have asked us to take pictures and send them to you as we embark on this adventure of the house remodel. We thought we'd try the blog format and see how it works.....
You may guess by the subtitle and url of this blog that, while not feeling totally overwhelmed, there are moments we wonder what we have done! Here we were in a great house, in a wonderful neighborhood, comfortably warm and cozy and we threw it all away - okay we didn't throw it away, we sold it - for a project that will probably suck us up and spit us out! Oh well, what can we say? We are slow learners!
We've been looking for that special place - a space for a shop, closer to town, a little bit of a project - for quite a while. Well, we found it. We put an offer in, got it accepted and then proceeded to sell our place - 3 weeks after we put it on the market! (Remember that wonderful neighborhood - it is great for young families with kids - we should have known it would sell that quickly!) We closed on our new place Oct. 26th and on our "old" place Nov. 3rd. Should have been enough time for a smooth transition, but Kate had a hard time believing the sale would go through and didn't get in the packing groove as quickly as Bill! (That trip to the Oregon Coast to meet long-time friend Carol had been planned long before this move came into the picture!??*?*) Then the carpet the "to be" new owners wanted got installed in the bonus room and it all became quite real! Man, do we have a lot of, well, let's kindly say "stuff" - feel free to insert any word you'd like there, you know what I am talking about! We didn't need Peter Walsh's help, but.......
And so, thanks in a huge way to our friend Paul who claims to love helping people move, and friends who fed and humored us, we are out of the old place and on our way to the new! Now the real work is beginning........ We thought we'd share both insights from a couple of middle-agers who think (well thought) this was a good idea and a lot of photos of the project as it goes along.... Hope you enjoy!
